Willy Wonka
and the
Chocolate Factory

Invitations: Use chocolate bars.  Make a wrapper from plain white paper and inside place a 'golden ticket' announcing the holder is invited to a birthday party. On ticket: WONKA'S G O L D E N   T I C K E T GREETINGS TO YOU THE LUCKY FINDER OF THIS GOLDEN TICKET. FROM MR. WILLY WONKA!....... PRESENT THIS TICKET AT THE (address) AT (time)  ON (day), AND DO NOT BE LATE.   In your wildest dreams you could not image the marvelous SURPRISES that await YOU!

Decorations:
Decorate with tissue flowers and green leaves made out of construction paper.  Make a chocolate river from pudding on plastic wrap.   Lickable wallpaper...find paper with a fruit design.  Melt jolly ranchers and paint onto the fruit design, let dry.  Make giant lollipops from dowels and cardboard circle cutouts.  Hang candy dots on their strips of paper all around the room.   Dangle gum drops from the ceiling with fishing line.

Cake and Food:
Sheet cake with a chocolate river, lollipop plants, other candies all around.
Eat the pudding river.  Hand the kids a spoon/straw or dish is out into bowls.
Fizzy Lifting Drink:  Sprite with colored ice cubes (red, blue, green).

Goodie Bags:
Take a paper lunch sack, decorate with candy stickers and draw candies on it.  Inside add big lollipops, gum balls, Oompa Loompa whistle.

Games and Activities:
Make a machine (or use a gumball machine) to "make" candies.   Fill with Jelly Bellies.  Have the kids guess the flavors.

Play Duck, duck, goose that laid the golden egg:   Have a 'golden' egg filled with a prize.  Pass around like a hot potato.

Bubble Blowing Contest:  (don't tell the kids, but give them sour gum)  Then have the contest after watching their faces.

Gobstopper Hunt:
Need:  The biggest jawbreakers you can find, wrap in plastic wrap.
Mr. Slugworth has hidden the Everlasting Gobstoppers and we must find them (one per person).
Or if you have lots of smaller ones, sort them into colors.  Assign a point value per color.  Hide them and see who gets the most point to win.

Make Candy Necklaces:
Need:  plastic canvas needles, thread, candies: gummy savers, marshmallows, gummy bears, gum drops, etc.
